Try this simple, light and refreshing cocktail to kick off your January. It can also be made as a mocktail.
The Sparkling Greyhound
This cocktail can be made multiple ways, including as a mocktail for Dry January. Fun fact, I ran out of club soda because Aldo tried to do Dry January and drank it all (did you know January only has 6 days? lol). I had champagne on hand and substituted club soda for champagne and I have to say it’s delicious! Give it a try either way! A clean and refreshing start to the New Year!
INGREDIENTS
Sugar Rim
- Grapefruit Juice
- Turbinado Sugar (I used refined sugar, tasted just as good).
Honey Syrup
- 1/4 Cup Honey
- 1/8– 1/4 Cup Warm water
Sparkling Greyhound Cocktail
- 1.5 oz Grapefruit juice
- 1.5 oz Vodka
- .5 oz Honey Syrup
- Club Soda or Champagne
- Fresh thyme
DIRECTIONS
For the Sugar Rim
- Dip the rim of a rocks glass into grapefruit juice (or rub the squeezed grapefruit half around the rim), then dip into turbinado sugar. Add ice to the glass.
Sparkling Greyhound Cocktail
- Pour vodka, grapefruit juice, and honey syrup into a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake and strain into the prepared glass.
- Top with club soda or champagne and garnish with a sprig of fresh thyme.
If you’re doing Dry January, try it as a mocktail – take out the vodka and use club soda!
