Brand Session Spotlight: Julie Ann Taylor of Colors of Grief

Branding

March 26, 2026

Julie reached out through a mutual friend as she was just starting her business, Colors of Grief, and needed a few images for her landing page. Working with her was such a joy. She brought along two friends to the session, one to help keep time (which I loved!!!) and the other to model with her for a few quick shots. Both were wonderful support and helped make the session feel easy, light, and collaborative.

We kept the session simple with a mini session, since all Julie needed were a couple images for her website. But as we worked together, she told me she loved the ideas I had for her brand and was already thinking about booking another session in the future. Her energy and clarity made it easy to create images that truly reflected her heart-centered work.

Matching Environment to Brand

It was important for Julie’s photos to feel warm, welcoming, and natural, just like her personality and her business. Tree People became the perfect location. The gardens and light-filled paths gave us a serene and grounded backdrop that matched her brand’s message and her mission to support people navigating grief.

About Colors of Grief

Julie offers compassionate, one-on-one virtual support for individuals coping with the loss of a loved one, including those who have been caregivers or are navigating grief after a cancer-related loss. She walks alongside her clients, helping them map their unique grief journey with gentle, personalized guidance.

What makes her approach so special is her lived experience. Julie has faced the loss of multiple loved ones herself, and she combines this deep personal understanding with her training as a certified grief educator. Her work is trauma-informed, heart-centered, and tailored to each client. She integrates mind-body practices and somatic tools to meet people where they are, creating a space that honors every shade of grief without judgment.

Session Highlights

  1. Multiple Looks, One Location: With her friends helping, we were able to capture a couple of different looks in one beautiful spot at Tree People.
  2. Personal and Relaxed: Julie shared that she has often needed a headshot, but hadn’t prioritized it before. Together, we made the process easy and light.
  3. Creative Collaboration: From positioning to wardrobe suggestions, Julie was open to ideas and eager to make her brand shine.

Julie’s images now live on colorsofgrief.com, helping convey the warmth and compassionate guidance she offers. It’s exciting to see her use these photos to connect with clients and grow her new business.

A Note on Working Together

Sessions like this are a reminder that the right location, thoughtful planning, and a little support can make even a mini session feel full and creative. Julie’s clarity about her goals and openness to collaboration made it easy to create images that reflect her brand while still feeling authentic and approachable.

“I am so happy and thrilled with the way everything went… from our initial chat to the session itself to getting this in my inbox today. I have so many great choices! It’s kinda overwhelming and wonderful all at the same time! My friends are saying that you really captured the essence of me. Thanks again for making it as easy and light as possible.” – Julie Ann Taylor
