Spiced Hibiscus Syrup
- 1/2 cup dried hibiscus petals
- 1 cups water
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 4 whole cloves
- 1-inch piece of fresh ginger, sliced
- 1 teaspoon whole allspice berries
- 2 cardamom pods, lightly crushed- optional
- In a saucepan, combine dried hibiscus petals, water, granulated sugar, cinnamon sticks, whole cloves, sliced fresh ginger, whole allspice berries, and crushed cardamom pods.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 15-20 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld and the syrup to thicken slightly.
