For a newborn session with poses like our samples, it’s best to capture them when they are under 2 weeks (even premature babies where possible). While this is usually a stressful time for new parents, it’s also the time when baby is sleepiest, and most cooperative.
My amazing wedding clients Kate and Nick had their gorgeous little girl Sophia and she was premature. That didn’t stop us from getting the photos and documenting the family welcoming sweet baby girl. Not only were the parents involved in the photos, but it was multigenerational that included the grandparents too!
I absolutely love this one of the generations of ladies: grandma, mom and baby!
Ideally, you don’t want to put the newborn session off until the baby is a month or two, because by then, the babies have changed so much it’s no longer possible to capture how they were when they were brand new. The process of photographing a preemie is no different than photographing any other newborn. It’s always difficult to allow yourself to relax when you’ve got a newborn and it’s doubly hard when you’ve got a preemie, but it’s important to know that baby is in good capable hands. If your sweet preemie babe can’t be photographed until they are a bit older due to them staying in the hospital, we will still do whatever we can to get the shots!
