Senior Mini Session for Seamus

I loved capturing this senior mini session! This time on time on the beach, featuring waves good enough for a surfer. Seniors may not entirely care about getting senior pictures taken at the time, but they will when they are looking back – and they are SO special for the parents to document this moment.

So in this case, of course, these were for mom and I knew that, but I’d like to say that Seamus and I still had a fun time and even got to capture him watching his favorite past time..surfers. Plus, he had mentioned to me before his session that, “I am excited about my session because it makes me feel like I am finally grown up.”

He may have lost a pair of shoes to the waves crashing in much closer than either of us had anticipated, but I’d say it was totally worth it – look at those views!

I love being able to offer sneak peeks to my clients, a way for them to see the shoot before I’ve had the chance to get the entire session edited! “OMG! OMG! OMG! — and this is just the preview? I’m so happy! I have loved looking through these photos of Seamus. You did a FANTASTIC job. I’m thrilled and I haven’t even seen everything. I’ve already marked some favorites but I feel like I’m just going to mark almost all of them as favorites and then be paralyzed by indecision when I actually have to choose.”

After showing mom received the final images, she was in love, with one image in particular that reminded her exactly of her dad.

“I’m so thrilled with the way they turned out. As I’ve mentioned before, I’m just ‘struck’ by that black/white one where I think Seamus looks exactly like my Dad. I had such a powerful reaction to it. Thank you for capturing that image. It is very special to me.”

Being able to capture these moments, especially when something is captured accidentally like the image above resonating so much with Mom and reminding her for her own father, is why I love doing what I do. Drawing emotions from images and documenting them to be able to be cherished for years to come.
