Preparing for your session is a huge part of your portrait session experience. But, just as important as the planning can be, there is nothing like the actual photography experience itself. When you’ve got more than one person in the mix, you’re going to need to trust your photographer is experienced at working with all the different personalities and family dynamics that play out in any modern family.

I bet you just said out loud, “You haven’t met my precious bundle of energy!” You’re already thinking about the last time your little one had a melt down at the grocery store. Or what about how you’ve had to commando crawl out of her bedroom every night since she graduated to the “big-girl” bed?

I hear your brain whirling and I know exactly what you’re thinking, “Am I the only one?”

Trust me when I say, even though it feels like you’re the only one going through the trials of parenting, you aren’t alone! Now you’re thinking about scheduling that family photo shoot, and you’re just not sure how you’re going to make it through without a meltdown!

Trust me … every child – ok, maybe not all of them – at least 90% of them have at least one melt down during the session. And if they don’t have a full melt down? They definitely have those crabby moments where no matter what we do, we are not going to get them to cooperate. I see it every time in mom’s face…she starts stressing, gets a little anxious, even apologizes to me for her child being a normal child.

Please listen to me … it … is … normal! Please don’t stress about it!

Trust your photographer and let them do what they do best, handle the situation in a way that gets you the best photographs possible.

This picture-perfect family? Well, it was all we could do to keep this little bug out of the water, and she still managed to work her way in! Lol!!
