One of the things I love best about being an artist is the ability to redefine 0ne’s self. Even when your art is photographing other people’s vision for their perfect wedding, being able to express personal growth through your art is exhilarating.
I am sure you are asking, “What they heck does this have to do with this amazing shoot?” Well, I discovered a little more of myself last year when I started gravitating toward the weddings and events with bold colors. I have a newly discovered love for these rich deep hues. (My current obsession is with black and white!)
You see I always thought I wanted to be a soft dreamy neutral photographer; I thought it told a dreamier story. But the reality is I find beauty in all colors and most styles. I still have my core photography style, but I’ve just expanded it a tad bit. That is why I love collaborations like this one. It’s not just about sharing what could be, but exploring outside of the box as an artist. When all this amazingness collides, the end result is an out of this world stunning editorial shoot!
Ok, back to this shoot! Besides getting to work with my dream team, what I loved most about this shoot is it took me way out of my comfort zone and I couldn’t be happier! I love these rich bold colors and the entire vibe of this shoot. I mean, I could talk for days about every single detail. You know my love of details and this shoot had them all! From the invitations to the table decor and of course in our bridal attire.
OMG! The style of this bride and groom was off the hook! I am not gonna lie … I tried to rock the glam head piece while shooting. It might be my new shooting look – lol. And can we talk about the grooms velvet jacket? YES, please! There was so much goodness from this shoot, I can’t get over it.
The Fig House
, like many LA venues, is an amazing backdrop and has so many built-in WOW factors. But, I am all about transforming a space to be unique to you. Just like they always do, that is what this dream team did for this shoot. They took a rad venue space with so much already going for it and transformed it into this incredible dream wedding with a bright and bold vibe to match.

For our bright and modern styled shoot, we wanted to embrace all of that at every turn. Every detail was a creative marriage of the space and the art in it. We chose to use a mix of darks and brights with warm golds and black. The Fig House features vibrant abstract art throughout their space, the perfect backdrop for statement pieces. Love the way that bougainvillea chandelier looks like another piece of art!”
You know you have a great inspiration when two pieces of art in this case the bouquet and cake are voted best of the year. There is no question about it. I want to frame that bouquet!
I love the base layer of the two piece combo from BHLDN
. It’s an extra bonus that we were able to get three different looks with just a simple caplet or hair accessory change! I love accessories, don’t you?
I am thrilled to say this isn’t my only bold shoot of the year, so keep an eye out for more bolds and blacks! I am so excited, are you?!?!
