But, you know what I love best about roomforty – I mean other than the food, the passion and love and soulfulness from the kitchen prep to the serving? They don’t just cook and serve food. These guys want you to have an experience with the food. Now that is what I am talking about. Life truly is all about the experiences, not just the results, but how those experience really make us feel, think, react and remember.

One of the favorite questions ever asked of me by one of the lovely people at roomforty is, “What was your favorite childhood dish and why?” My answer, while a little embarrassing, was so intriguing. It made me think of things I hadn’t thought of in years. Who knew that food could produce so many thoughts, memories and feelings.
Oh you are still waiting for my answer. Ok, I will share if you do. Go ahead, leave a comment below with your favorite food. OK, indulge me for a few minutes.

My favorite dish is fried chicken. I swear I would order it every meal if I could! You ask what does this have to do with my childhood? Well, my favorite food as a kid was McDonalds’ chicken nuggets and KFC chicken strips. (OK, don’t judge.)  There are many happy memories associated with these trips to KFC and MickyD’s. I can’t pinpoint why, but it brings me joy to think about these times as a kid. Thank goodness my pallet has matured, but I still love some fried chicken occasionally!

No, my parents didn’t have me living off of these meals, but they were very, very young and trying to juggle a child and a career in addition to growing up themselves. I spent many evenings at my grandmother’s house. Whenever my parents asked what I wanted for dinner before heading off to my grandmother’s … I swear it was always KFC!

When I was very young, it was always MickyD’s, or so goes the story my dad will tell you! He tells of a time I was being rewarded for something I had accomplished when I was five years old. My dad asked me, “What do you want for dinner, you can have anything you want.” My response? “McDonalds chicken nuggets.” My dad swears he tried very hard to get me to eat anything else, but I held my ground … haha!
